What is fuel polishing? Most mariners with diesel generators or diesel engines aboard know the importance of polishing their diesel fuel before sending it to their diesel engine(s). When the fuel sits in the fuel tank for any period of time sloshing around as the current or waves move the boat from side to side a certain degree of ugliness accumulates in the tank. Running this fuel without filtering it is a sure way to get a problem and even summoning help from the Coast Guard.
There are refined filters on the market that will polish your fuel but have you checked out their price list lately? Wow, they are expensive. The same results may be accomplished with the use of the Frantz Fuel Filter. Most of my customers run their fuel through the Frantz Filter two times or run two filters in series for a full flow setup. The same TP elements are utilized for this process and will reduce the unwanted contaminents down below one micron just as it does with the oil filter or transmission filter.
Any fuel polishing filter must be capable of removing water from the fuel. The Frantz Filter is capable of filtering your fuel to one micron but it also can remove up to six ounces of water from your fuel. This is important. Expensive filtration systems are not required to acquire good fuel for your diesel. Put that excess money into better use. Just be sure to maintain a sufficient quantity of TP elements on board to satisfy your filtration needs.
Of course not only marine engines require fuel polishing. If you have any stand-by diesel generators that do not get used very often, the fuel sits in that fuel tank and the same thing happens as it does in a marine application only not as fast. It is a stand-by "emergency" generator for a reason. That reason is for when it must come on in an emergency such as a power loss. Now is not the time to wonder why it doesn't come on and continue to run satisfactorily. Dirty fuel is probably the reason.
Each Frantz Oil "Select" TP Element comes shrinkwrapped for your protection against dust and moisture. What if you get into a rain squall or accidentally drop a roll in the bilges? No worry. That's why I shrinkwrap every roll for my mariner friends and customers. Even if you just keep the TP on a shelf in your garage at home, it gets dusty. Why introduce dust or dirt into your system. Keep the roll nice and clean with the shrinkwrap covering over each roll. You will appreciate it; your engine will appreciate it.
