On JAN-22 I spent the afternoon installing the Frantz filter under the hood of my Yukon and I plumbed in the oil feed using the Frantz "sandwich adapter". Installing the sandwich adapter was fairly simple. At time of installation I had about 2000 miles on my engine oil. When I pulled off my "full-flow" oil filter my oil was fairly dark. I purposely did not change my oil or the full-flow filter because I wanted to give the new Frantz bypass oil filter a test. After 1 day of driving with the bypass oil filter installed (about 50 miles) I stopped for gas and checked my oil. My oil is now clean and largely clear. I am convinced that it cleans the oil as advertised.
One other concern I had was oil pressure reduction. My oil pressure at idle was originally ~40psi; now it is ~38psi. Off-idle I see no change to oil pressure at ~44psi (likely limited by a pressure regulator).
I hope this is helpful to others ...
What a great filter! At first I was surprised by the tiny metal flakes on top of the filter when I changed the TP roll. When I had the Volvo engine overhauled the mechanic could not believe how clean the inside of the engine was after 120,000 miles. Made him a believer, too.
For years I could not find a local Frantz dealer, but thanks to the internet I found it again and will use it on my cars.
The following note is not a covert advertising, but it is simply the trouth: The FRANTZ is the most reliable micro filtering system we do know all over. Maybe, not the most "trendy" one, but definitely the one with the longest and best experiences: Install it, run it, change the TPs and ... for the rest: Forget it!
So, we will definitely keep on going the "FRANTZ way"!
